Was Jesus actually real?
While I'm over here, building this wall to dodge behind in case someone wants to throw hard and/or sharp objects at me, I would like you to think about the Biblical character of Jesus.
Now, I was raised in the Swedish Protestant Church (I don't even know if this church has any American counterpart). I was baptized before I could speak and I went through confirmation before I was 15 years old. I was always skeptical, but I have always been fascinated by the myth of Jesus of Nazareth, especially how the Hell (heh) he got out of that cave.
As you read the following ramblings, please remember that this is just thinking. I can't find any support for most of my rant in points 3-4, because so far. we have no historical records of a Jesus of Nazareth.
1. There is no support for most of the gospels in the Bible, according to Dr Richard Carrier. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4Gs-LUqv-M
2. The Romans only crucified non-slaves who were not legionaries who committed treason, patricide, impiety, stole from temples, and not giving the empire its dues. https://www.romae-vitam.com/roman-punishment.html https://www.themanor.notts.sch.uk/assets/Revision/Crime-and-Punishment-Revision-Guide-v1-GHY.pdf

3. I believe that the character of Jesus is created the same as Moses was created. A large number of stories have been compounded into a single idea, then written down as describing one character. I personally believe that there was one guy named Jesus, who happened to be a rebel who hated the Roman Empire (which was kind of a past time in the occupied areas). This particular Jesus happened to know someone who could read and write and this person wrote about the Jesus character. Those stories got retold until the parchment fell apart and the stories got distorted over time.
4. This is my explanation for the resurrection - The Romans were not all that good at telling if someone was actually dead. The rebel Jesus was asphyxiating on that cross (asphyxia and exposure is what kills crucified people, not blood loss) and when he stopped breathing, they took him down and chucked him into this tomb to rot away. So, when Jesus got cleaned and wrapped, he started breathing again, but it was so shallow that he was still considered dead. The stone was rolled back across the door and Jesus was left in the dark.
So, Jesus is waking up, battling hunger and fatigue, and finds himself in a dark tomb. He starts screaming for help. Dude comes by, hears the shouts and grabs some friends to move the stone. They see the rope burns and probably recognize Jesus as a rebel. Because most people dislike the Romans, they take him home, clean him up and help him out. Ta-daa, grave empty, Jesus gone. Then Jesus comes back healed, hangs around for a while. The Romans find out he survived, and Jesus has to run for his life.
5. The Plagiarizing Posse found the story of Jesus fascinating, added some established myths for flavoring, then sold it as Divine Edict.
